Most people need a program to lose weight successfully: a lose weight program in order to help them
stay on a diet. The lose weight program can be seen as a map or chart to guide you and keep you on the
straight and narrow path to losing weight.

The vast majority of weight loss diets are centred on a 'lose weight program'. That lose weight program is a map
to your future; it is a guide to help you get where you want to go; a route map to the new, slimmer you.
A typical lose weight program will consist of two parts, both or which have to be followed in unison. These two
faces of the same coin are dieting and physical exercise.
As you know, there are literally millions of diets out there, but the two programs to lose weight that are the
basis of most of the others are the traditional method and the Atkins program.
The traditional method as espoused by organizations like Weight Watchers, is based on a calorie controlled diet
and exercise, whereas the Atkins lose weight program is founded on a carbohydrate controlled diet plus
exercise.
That may sound like the same thing, but believe me, it is not. I cannot go into the pros and cons of each lose
weight program here, but counting carbohydrates is not the same as counting calories. Counting carbs is far easier,
because a whole swathe of foodstuffs do not have to be counted (meat, fish and poultry for example), whereas
everything except water has calories.
The amount of exercise should depend on your age and degree of fitness. You cannot expect a person of 60 to be
as fit as a 20 year old, although, yes, I know there are some.
A rapid weight loss program would include a fairly strict diet, without starving yourself and plenty of vigorous
exercise, while a gentle lose weight program, might be a little less severe on the counting and milder exercising.
Only you and possibly your doctor know what is best for you.
If you are so overweight that you can hardly do any exercise at all, then a rigorous diet for a fortnight might
be the answer so that you lose 10-15 lbs quickly so that you can then do some exercise and slacken off the
counting, if you want. It all depends on what you want to achieve and how quickly you want to do it.
The only choice you do not have is to wait for weight to fall off of its own accord. That will not happen and
you know it won't. It will take work and will power. So I suggest that you look at each of the Weight Watchers and
the Atkins websites now, evaluate their systems and get on a lose weight program right away.
